Bad Girls Don't Die by Katie Alender
This book is great. I loved it and several of the teens in my book club thought it as one of the best books they have ever read. This is a classic haunted house story set in modern times. It has teen angst, sisters that are possible possessed by an ancient evil, even a scary doll. Add that all up, then throw in a dash of adventure and a smidge of fire and you have one great read!

Generation Dead by Daniel Waters
What ever you do don’t fall in love with a Zombie. They’re really only after one thing…Your brains. In this book American teens become zombies if they die. No one is sure how or why it happens, but the preservatives in fast food could be a part of the problem. The teens come back with different levels of functionality. Some are walking dead who can’t speak, while others are beautiful and indistinguishable from regular teens. This story centers on a class of teens in a specific high school. It takes a look at the way the rest of the world views a person who is “differently able”. Like all great zombie stories the zombies are really just a way for us to view a social construct. The book is a look at racism without mentioning race. On top of that it’s a great read. Boys will like the
zombies and action, girls will like the romance.

Hush, Hush by Becca Fitzpatrick
In a way this book is like the anti Twilight. It’s a book for those who wonder why Bella is so blind to the danger of a guy like Edward. The main character in this story is a lot stronger and more sensible then Bella which I like. Nora is attracted to but also cautious of Patch (I know what the heck kind of name is that) the new guy in school. When she starts seeing things and the truth is finally revealed it is up to Nora (not Patch) to save the day. It was a fun read and I had to put up something anti Twilight.

Skeleton Creek by Patrick Carmen
One half of the book is in the book; the other half is online. At the end of most of the chapters you have to log on to sarahfincher.com, type in the password from the chapter, and watch the video in order to get the rest of the story. I loved the unique set up of the book. You can’t read it if you can’t watch the movies because you will have no idea what’s going on. The videos are Blair Witch Project scary. I’m a Patrick Carman fan and this book was awesome. The second book in the series was a little disappointing, but this one is great and worth a read. If you like horror and mystery then this book is for you.

The Stone Child by Dan Poblocki
Imagine your favorite horror writer. Now imagine you have moved into the town he is from. The writer disappeared years ago, but his house still stands empty in town, oh and the creatures from his scariest books are walking around. That’s what happens when Eddie moves into Gatesweed. He finds himself surrounded by all of the creatures from the best horror books he has ever read and trying to survive. This is a fun book because its fun to think about the things you would and would not like to meet from your favorite books.

Ok. I know what you’re thinking…Another zombie book. Well this one is really different. Hannah and her dad move town to town while her dad tries to find work and stay one step ahead of debt collectors. When they move to Maplecrest Hannah is determined that she will fit in and have fun. What she doesn’t count on is that the cheerleaders at her new school really are evil.
